1. How many students are in each class?
Florida English Language Institute understands the importance of personal attention for each student, so they are successful in learning English as a second language. Therefore, class size is no more than 14 students so our certified ESL instructors can devote time to each student.
2. How many levels of English Language does FELI offer?
Florida English Language Institute offers the following levels of ESL instruction:
General English (ESL):
- Beginner (Level 1)
- High Beginner (Level 2)
- Intermediate (Level 3)
- High Intermediate (Level 4)
- Advanced (Level 5)
- High Advanced (Level 6)
Academic English:
Professional English:
The general and academic programs are offered for one month, and students can continue the next level the following month, provided that they have sufficiently completed the level requirements. The Professional English program can be customized to fit the students schedule.
3. What level will a student enroll in?
Students are given an assessment test once they arrive at Florida English Language Institute to determine their particular level. Once this assessment is complete, students will be placed in the appropriate level.
4. When do classes take place?
Classes are offered Monday through Thursday for 4 hours per day. Friday is reserved for activities and cultural enrichment. Classes are scheduled in the morning or afternoon, dependent on schedule.

6. Is it possible to start on another start date other than those listed in the calendar?
Currently, our programs begin at the start of each month, however groups of students who are interested in studying together can contact our admissions department ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 7. How far is FELI from the beach?
Florida English Language Institute is a few miles from Clearwater Beach (10 minute drive), and within walking distance to the St Josephs Sound waterfront in Dunedin.
8. How far is FELI from Tampa?
Florida English Language Institute is located in Dunedin, 30 minutes drive from Tampa, and 30 minutes drive from downtown St Petersburg. Clearwater is a mile away from our campus location.
9. What are the cost and fees?

10. Can students spend more than one month?
Yes, students can spend more than one month studying with Florida English Language Institute provided they are within the travel dates as specified on their I-94 card.
11. Does Florida English Language Institute issue I20’s?
At this point FELI does not issue I-20’s as our programs do not run for more than 16 hours per week. Programs which run 18 hours per week require I-20’s. Students are eligible to attend FELI’s short term programs with other visa types. Students are required to bring their I-94 card to prove eligibility to attend school while in the USA.
12. How do I submit the application form?
You will find 2 application forms on the website – one application is for International students and lists our English language & custom programs, and the other application is for Domestic students which list our Spanish, French, and custom programs.

14. What are the admission requirements?
Florida English Language Institute requires a complete application for admission. Students who are interested in the TOEFL Preparation I, TOEFL Preparation II or the Business English program must have a high level of English proficiency. This will be determined either before or on registration day: students can submit current TOEFL scores, or take the assessment test when they arrive.
