Program Entry Requirements
Arrival and Departure
Florida English Language Institute asks you to arrive the weekend before your classes are to begin, prior to registration, and depart on Friday or Saturday, after your classes end. On your first Monday at FELI you will register for your program. If your first Monday is a national or local holiday, your registration will be done on Tuesday or the first business day that the school is open. After registration, you will take a placement test and FELI can place you in the most appropriate level. You will then attend an orientation for newly arriving students (see your Welcome Package).
International Students Arrival Requirements
Before Starting Class
- Report to Florida English Language Institute as soon as you arrive in the USA
- Attend mandatory orientation/registration at FELI, 9:00 a.m. on registration day (see school calendar)
- Submit your proof of health insurance at the registration
- Submit a copy of your passport with application
- Students are required to buy their own books before class starts (if applicable)
Registration
On the first Monday of your program, you will need to:
- Passport
- Your I-94 form (Arrival/Departure record filled out on your flight to the US)
- Funds to pay all remaining fees at FELI
- Proof of medical insurance
Instructional Hours
The first day of each term may be devoted to placement and evaluation, registration and other non-instructional activities. The last day of each term may be devoted to graduation ceremonies and non-instructional activities.
The English Program
16 hours of instruction per week. Classes run Monday through Thursday. A form I-20 is not available for this program. Therefore, for programs that run for less than 18 hours per week of instruction we do not issue an I-20 form. Course levels include Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, TOEFL Preparation and Business English.
FELI Hours
School doors are open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Evenings, school doors are open during scheduled class hours, except on national holidays.
Attendance
Because Florida English Language Institute would like you to get the maximum benefit from your program, you will be expected to attend classes full-time. If you have excessive unexcused absences from any combination of classes in any session, you will fail the level unless you make up the work missed and are able to demonstrate mastery of the material covered.
Student Health Insurance
All Florida English Language Institute students must have health insurance valid in the US.
The insurance coverage must be for the duration of your program. If you extend your program, you must also extend your insurance coverage period. You must provide FELI proof of insurance coverage at registration.
COSTS & FEES
Currency:
All fees listed are in US Dollars.
Application Fee
A non-refundable $50.00 application fee is required with your completed application in order to process your enrollment.
Activities Fee
There is a US$100.00 activity fee per term, which includes a variety of activities. Please note that activities are not considered part of instructional hours or the curriculum.
Tuition price
Florida English Language Institute will provide the required textbook for each term and will charge you with your tuition fee. Tuition fees are as listed in the “2012 Cost & Fees”.
Airport Pick-Up Fee
If you would like Florida English Language Institute to arrange airport pick-up upon your arrival, please indicate on this application form. The airport pick-up fee is US$ 45.00 per person. Please complete the airport pick-up form.
Cancellation Fee
If you cancel your enrollment prior to the start of the session, after your arrival in the USA there is a US$ 50.00 cancellation fee.
REFUND POLICIES
All Refunds
You must make your refund request in writing. Refund request forms are available at the Admissions Office and website.
Refunds will be made within 30 calendar days of your cancellation, withdrawal, or termination from the program. Florida English Language Institute follows all applicable state and federal regulations, including those related to student refunds.
FELI works with many counseling agents around the world who can provide you with information and assistance. If the agent who assists you has such an arrangement with FELI, any refund for which you may be eligible, may be coordinated with this agent. For a list of agents visit www.myfeli.com/agents
Students Activities Fees Refund Policy
If you cancel your registration the students’ activities fees are fully refundable, minus wire transfer fee (if applicable).
Airport Pick Up Refund Policy
If you cancel your registration prior to your arrival, the airport pick up fee is fully refundable, minus wire transfer (if applicable).
Tuition Refund Policy
If your visa application is rejected, you are entitled to receive a FULL REFUND of your pre-paid tuition fees except the application fee, courier fee, and all bank transfer charges (if applicable).
- Prior to Registration:
If you cancel your enrollment prior to the start of the session, after your arrival in the USA there is a US$ 50.00 cancellation fee.
- After registration OR start date:
If you want to withdraw from the program at Florida English Language Institute, you must first provide a written letter including a reason for withdrawing.
Students who have applied through an agent must contact the agent for a refund.
Refunds are based on the below:
- Students that have completed up to 10% of the program will be eligible to 75% tuition refund
- Students that have completed up to 24% of the program will be eligible to 40% tuition refund
- Students that have completed more than 25% of the program will NOT be eligible to any tuition refund
